This video is a great example of how your body can be a complicated and dynamic system. The reason that the pilot is able to maintain his or her control, the reason that a bird flies and the reason that the plane is able to fly, is because of an intricate system of air and tissue molecules called the human body.
I’m just going to be blunt here and say that if you’re a pilot, you are not a miracle worker. You can’t possibly be. For all we know you were once the leader of a terrorist organization and then you disappeared for five years and you were never heard from again. I know a few pilots who have been able to walk back into the cockpit of their aircraft and fly again.
Thats part of why pilots such as Scott Patterson, Ryan O’Callaghan, and Chris Roberts have been able to fly again. In the video below, the Flight Engineer Scott Patterson tells a story about how in his training program he was told to “fly like a bird”. The video is from his personal page, so it is clear he really is an aviation engineer, but this is the internet, and you can’t just say, “Hey, I’m a flying engineer.” I mean, you can say “Hey, I’m a flying engineer, and I fly planes.” But you can’t say, “Hey, I’m a flying engineer, and this is my hobby.
That’s pretty common sense. In fact, scientists have even been able to find a chemical called adrenaline that only happens when a person is afraid. When you see an airplane, you are actually seeing your brain doing the same thing. It is just a more modern version of the fear response. When we are afraid, adrenaline is produced. When we are not afraid, it is not. So we have this chemical at our disposal.
This idea of adrenaline actually sounds a lot more plausible than the idea that scientists can find a chemical that only happens when a person is afraid. And, if you are a scientist, you are probably reading the current research on the subject because you want to believe that the idea is true. As is the case with the fear response, an athlete’s mind is full of this chemical. It’s called cortisol, and it’s what gets our bodies ready to go to work.
And this chemical is what makes us so afraid. But let’s be honest, when you are afraid, you don’t really care if you hurt yourself. It does feel weird, but it’s not as bad as worrying that if you don’t do something, you could get shot by a gunman.
The other thing that makes us afraid is that we are inherently afraid of things. The reason we are afraid of flying is because we are afraid of flying. Because we are afraid of flying, we are less likely to take the risk of taking a risk. That is, like in the movie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, flying is pretty much the only thing that’s safe.
