In order to truly understand the culture that we live in, it is necessary to understand the culture that was dominant and how it developed. The American culture that most Americans live in today is the type that the European culture was created to replace. For example, the American culture is an amalgamation of many different cultures and this means that the average American can be anything from a dorky, clueless college student to a sophisticated business professional.
While our own culture is the product of the history of our country, most Americans have no idea of what our culture is really like.
