One of the many things that helps the ocean is the existence of commensal bacteria. These are tiny microbial life forms that live on certain types of material. Commensal bacteria help the ocean thrive by removing organic waste from the water, and they also help the water absorb oxygen. One of my favorite parts of the trailer is seeing the two swimmers swarming around the water, eating and drinking and making messes of one another.
I’m not sure that the sharks are a commensal. I’ve read about the connection between sharks and commensal bacteria in other articles, but I’ve never seen a documentary about this kind of thing. There are a lot of theories out there as to why sharks and bacteria are connected, but I don’t know of them that explain these commensal connections.
I was thinking that the sharks may be trying to communicate with one another, but I could be wrong. One theory for these commensal connections is that the sharks could be signaling to the bacteria to help them survive in the ocean. Some of the bacteria may be trying to help the sharks survive in the ocean, but the sharks may be having trouble getting the message across to the bacteria.

We see them communicating with each other, and they seem to have a pretty good relationship. In any case, the fact that the ocean is a place where bacteria interact is probably just a coincidence. But this theory also brings up an interesting point: I wonder if the ocean’s bacteria-to-be are just as much a part of the ocean’s ecosystem as the ocean’s bacteria.
If you think about it, you don’t need to be a bacteria to survive in water. We all walk on water all the time. But if that’s all that the oceans are, it’s probably not doing much good for the bacteria either.
But I wonder, if the oceans are so good for people, why do they need to be so polluted? It is a very interesting question.
There is another possibility. If you think about where you walk on the ocean, there are very few places where it’s not raining. This is because the ocean is so large and contains so many moving parts. Sure, the water is very cold but there are other factors that make it hard for the ocean bacteria to survive. The fact that the ocean is so vast and contains so many moving parts is why the ocean bacteria have to be so large and move so fast.
