Here is my take on high tech conference rooms. I think they are very appropriate for large gatherings, but I do not think they are for small business or even casual gatherings.
I think the term “conference room” has become a bit dated for those who are not employed by a large corporation. Many companies still use it. However, in the past, most companies used rooms for small gatherings. It was a way for them to show off technology. The room had to be big enough for all the people in the audience and the lights could be dimmed to keep things quiet.
Also, I think that conference rooms have been replaced by large meeting rooms. Companies are starting to realize that they need to move away from having large, loud, and intimidating meeting rooms and instead have smaller, more intimate conferences.

There are a lot of conference rooms on the web, so I think it’s hard to know which one to choose.
The problem with conference rooms is that they are often built with the only seat being a conference table that you can only bring your laptop, or you can bring your tablet and type on it while it’s in use. I know people have all sorts of ideas about how to make conference rooms more comfortable and useable, so I am not going to get into that right now. I am going to say that the best conference rooms have very large, inviting, comfortable conference rooms.
This is actually a point that I have emphasized on a number of occasions. I don’t want to come upon you and say that the best conference rooms are the ones that are the absolute most comfortable. I have a good friend who has worked in the real estate industry who has said that the best conference rooms are the ones that have at least one person in a standing position.
