The most recent data on the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the United States has been released and the number of cases in New York City is up to six times what was reported earlier in the week.
This is huge. The city of New York has over 20,000 cases and 5,000 have died. I went to check out the website of the New York State Department of Health and it stated that there are no cases in New York City but many of the cases are in counties surrounding the city and even in other states.
New York City is not alone in having too many cases. Los Angeles has over 8,000 cases and about 10,000 have died. The CDC has said that only about 50% of the cases in the state are the result of exposure to the virus. That means many cases are not caused by the virus and are instead the result of other factors.
What might be going on in these counties? Probably the same thing as what’s happening in the city: the virus is spreading from person to person in a community. We’re probably seeing a lot of these cases because of the social distancing measures that are in place. But we’re probably seeing a lot more than just the coronavirus. We’re probably seeing a lot more than the normal flu. And we’re probably seeing a lot more than the normal winter flu.
For those of us living in areas that have been hard hit by the coronavirus, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what it is that is affecting us. Some people think its the flu, and others think it is the novel coronavirus. Many are afraid to go outside, and are asking if they can get tested. This may or may not be true, but its likely that a lot of people are really afraid, and they’re asking if they should be afraid.
It’s easy to get frustrated when you see that many people are afraid. I could get frustrated because I have no idea what I’m supposed to be afraid of. But the truth is, we all know what we’re supposed to be afraid of. People are scared of the virus because they think it’s going to kill their whole family, and they’re afraid of dying.
Sure, some people are afraid of the virus, but if you are, you can control it yourself. I’m not going to tell you that you can’t get tested because that’s a lie. But the fact is, you can control your own fear. The easiest way to do that is to be afraid of what you already know is real and what is something you want to be afraid of.
I don’t know if you’ve ever read about people who are scared of the virus. It’s a big word, but that’s basically what it is because for most people, the fear is out of their control. When you’re scared of the virus, you dont have to take the risk of getting tested. It’s your choice whether to test, but you have to make a conscious decision to do so because you need to stay healthy. We all know how to do that.
The good news is that, once again, the most feared virus is on the other side of the globe. This time its the coronavirus. Like the plague back in the time of the bubonic plague, the disease in COVID-19 is extremely contagious. It can spread very quickly, even to people who dont even know they have the virus. In fact, some experts say that the most likely way the virus will spread is from person-to-person.
