We use our multimedia tools and applications in our daily lives and work, so it is important to use them in a way that is useful and relevant. We must then evaluate the impact these tools are having on our daily lives and work.
Tools that are most frequently associated with entertainment or hobbies are also the ones that most often result in bad user experience and/or degrade our work environment. I know of a few tools that have gotten a bad rap, but I’m talking specifically about popular tools like Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. To name a few, there are a ton of tools that will let you create and edit images that would traditionally take hours to create using a software like Photoshop.
A quick google search will show you that Photoshop has over 3,000 plugins (which allow you to add photo filters, editing tools, or even whole photo backgrounds), and you can find countless plugins for other applications as well. The problem is that these plugins are often designed to be used with Photoshop, and there’s a certain “feel” to them that I can’t always explain. For example, as a photographer, I can’t use Photoshop’s image editing tools to add watermarking.
I know that Photoshop is a fantastic tool for image editing, but when you are using it to add watermarking to your photos, you are really creating a new tool. Even though Photoshop is a wonderful tool, it can be very difficult to explain to people who are new to using your software. It can get complicated if you are looking at a complicated subject, or even a complicated shot.

Right now, Flash is the most popular way for people to view images in their browsers. It is the only way to view images in your browser regardless of where you choose to go.

This is because Flash allows you to run any file as a video, even ones that are still being developed, which makes it a great way to distribute and share your own creations. Of course, Flash is not for everyone, and some people will be turned off by the large file size and high memory requirements.
