You don’t need to know the rules of the game. If you don’t know the rules, then you should know what’s up.
This is an interesting one because Deathloop’s story is actually pretty simple. Colt Vahn is a mysterious former party-guy who has been locked into a repeating cycle of waking up and destroying his fellow party-lovers. After getting his memories back, and seeing his old friends, Colt decided to join a mysterious, party-loving, cult-like organization called Visionaries.
The Visionaries are very secretive. They don’t talk about themselves. They don’t tell you why they do what they do. So when you join Visionaries, you must swear an oath of secrecy. That means not sharing your code of conduct (which is why there’s no talking in the game).
The problem is when you’re not aware of the group’s purpose for joining, you will not be able to follow the rules of the group until it’s full of other party-lovers. In this way your party-lovers are never allowed to take any other party-member from the group. And even then you’ll have to make sure he’s an evil member before joining the group.
I’m not too sure if this is a bad idea, but I’ve got a feeling that some of the other parties may be more dangerous than others. One thing that I see is that the “rules” for Visionaries are very flexible, which makes it hard for people to be sure that they have the right to break them. I’m also wondering if the Visionaries are really the ones who are keeping Colt locked in a time loop.
It’s worth noting that the first Visionary you meet is, in fact, the party-member from the group. This is the kind of thing that makes you feel just slightly uneasy about joining the party, and I think it’s important to be aware of this. The second Visionary we meet is the second to last member of the party, but this one is the one we know for certain is the bad guy.
Yeah, the third Visionary is one of the most interesting characters in the game. He’s the one who has been working with Colt on the island, telling him that they’re only the last two Visionaries left. At first Colt didn’t believe him, but after a while he realised that his “good guy” image was being used as a cover for something worse.
The third Visionary is actually the only one we know for certain is the bad guy. He’s been seen before, but we only know about it because Colt is going to kill him. It’s implied that if Colt doesnt kill him, he’ll kill both of us because the third Visionary is the only one who can stop Colt.
You can call Deathloop a “time-loop puzzle” but it’s more than that. Its about manipulating time. We know that Colt has been on Deathloop for a long time. But to manipulate time itself, you have to manipulate the time-space continuum. This means that you have to actually travel through time to get to any point.
When you see it, you may think of the game as an actual time-loop puzzle, and it would be a lot more fun that way, but you’re missing the point of the game. It’s not an actual time-loop puzzle, it’s just another puzzle game that has an ending.
