I’ve been doing this for about a month now and I can honestly say I’ve discovered what I think is a key to growth that we haven’t talked about in any of the previous posts. All of the growth I’ve been doing, I’ll get back to in a minute.
This is something that we’ve discussed a few times with the team, but what I find interesting is that when you start doing your growth, it appears to be more a matter of the amount of people you have in your life rather than just the number of people you know. It kind of makes sense, but we’ve always been aware that we havent been doing this at the right time, so I think we need to continue the discussion.
If you re-think your priorities, you might actually find that youre actually doing plenty of growth each day, and you can focus on growing your team and your company to do more of what youre doing now.
I’ve personally found that this is a good thing to focus on because I find it easier to be selective about how much we spend on growth on our own rather than on other people’s projects. But it still does not make it a bad thing. We all have our own personal growth goal (or we should) and I think these are good ways to go about it.
This would be a great time to use up those new accounts you have to build out your team (or your existing team) for. Just like you’ve done with your personal online presence, you can use up your existing team members to build out your business, too. This can be done with either email or Facebook groups. You can use the Facebook group for this because Facebook’s group creation features are quite good.
I have no idea what the best way to build out a new team is, but I think it works best when its all spread out. It also helps that the new team members all have their own Facebook groups.
There are a lot of people who don’t like to build out teams. I know this because I’ve built out my own teams before and I really hate it. I use Twitter and LinkedIn and Facebook, but I always end up with a bunch of people who want to be on the team but don’t know how. I’ve never been able to get away with this.
In the most recent video game trend, the resurgence extreme team size, I am going to give you a little bit of an explanation about what this is and how it works. It’s a trend that arose in the early nineties, and I believe it’s the first ever game in the history of gaming to be based around this type of structure.
The resurgence extreme team size (REST) is a design method that allows teams of up to six people to create a dynamic social experience without allowing any other individual to take part in the decision making process, which is typically reserved for a manager or other higher-ranking individual. A great example of this is the game Halo 2, which allowed each player to build their own team, but each team could only be made by one of the players.
This is how I envision a team of four people working in our future, each with their own computer, each in their own apartment with their own TV, and each in the middle of a game. It’s a little bit like how we do work today, except we’re not playing games, and we’re not going to have a manager or a project manager.
