superficial antonym has been a term in pop culture for quite some time now. It’s very easy to forget that people don’t act like this all the time. In fact, when we tell ourselves things like “I know how I feel,” we forget that we always have a choice. We can act like we believe what we say, or we can act like we don’t want to believe it.
The superficial antonym for “I know how I feel” is the opposite of “I don’t want to believe it.” It’s “I don’t want to believe it because it’s not true.” What we don’t understand is that the “I don’t want to believe it because it’s not true” approach is actually a choice. We choose not to believe what we don’t want to believe.
I tend to think that the idea of the superficial and the antonym are actually the same. The reason we end up believing what we say to ourselves is because we say it with our eyes and ears and we are pretty sure at the time that it is true. If we could only change our minds, we would be able to believe what we want. But the truth is that we can change our minds.
The truth is, you can change your mind with a little effort.
As any scientist will tell you, if a subject can be made to believe in something (like, for example, a theory) that makes sense, it can be made to change the subject’s belief in a subject of the original theory. So, if a person is convinced of their opinion (say, that the Earth is flat), it may be possible to make them change their mind.
An interesting example of this idea comes from a recent study of people. Researchers took a group of university students who were all told that they needed to complete an assignment before they would be allowed to continue working and measured how well they changed their minds. The students were told that they would be given a new assignment, but they were told they’d have to complete it in a new manner, for example by making a new argument, or by changing their mind about something.
In other words, they were given two tasks to complete in a way that would change the course of their lives. The researchers found that these students were twice as likely to change their minds when they were told they needed to do something different.
This is one of the ways that research shows that students don’t change their minds as often as we’d hope, because they just assume their opinions will remain unchanged (which is actually a pretty common assumption for most people). But that students only change their mind 2.5 times as often as the researchers expected, that’s enough to change the course of their lives. And that’s why a college education is so important.
In my last class I asked students to try and change their minds when they were told they needed to do something different. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. The only people who actually changed their mind were the ones who didn’t know what they needed to do, but they still did it. But they did it slower than I expected.
That’s true, but most people do it faster. Its just that many people dont actually think about what they are doing, and that makes it slower. And thats why, when its possible, we should do something that makes us feel like we are better people.
