this virtual plant is my favorite way to remember the important life lessons we need to learn each day. I’m not talking about the ones about what to do when the day starts or about the ones about how to get a good score on your math test or about how to lose weight. I am talking about the ones about how our plants survive and thrive.
I’m talking about life lessons about the importance of caring for plants. In our gardens, we learn when to water, when to prune, when to weed, when to eat the most, when to avoid pesticides, when to choose the right shade, when to plant seeds in the right spot, and when to stop. Plants are the most important thing we can touch. They are our friends.

We just touched the virtual plant in our first virtual meeting. We’re now meeting again. We’re all friends again. We’re seeing each other again. We’re meeting each other again. I’m sure that’s the same reason why you had to go through all these years of therapy and medication to find the right medication to help you get better at using your right brain. The truth is, your brain needs your right brain to be effective. It’s the only part of your brain that you can control completely. The only part of your brain that you depend on to do the work of processing information, making decisions, and making you feel safe.
This idea is echoed all over the internet. In the late 90’s I joined a support group for people with depression. The members had all had depression symptoms for a long time, but never really understood how bad it could get. Most of us had never understood the difference between grief and depression, and were unsure whether we could ever recover from either. We were all terrified of going to the hospital.
Virtual plants are a bit like that, except instead of a “friend” (a real live person) they’re a computer program. The program is able to do all the things plants do, but it can also, and often does, make you feel so good that the only way to overcome your depression is to do the things you can do, and the only way to feel good is to do the things you can do.
