Aqua affinity is a powerful enchantment that lets you breathe underwater. It also allows you to walk on water and creates rainclouds around your head when it’s raining in-game. What does aqua affinity do in Minecraft? Just like respiration, aqua affinity will make your character take damage from suffocation if they stay under for too long. You can also use the enchantments together with one another: if you have both of them equipped, then you’ll be able to breathe underwater as well as being protected against suffocation damage!

What Enchantment Lets You Breathe Underwater
One day I found myself trapped inside my burning house and all that was left was a single window on the third floor. The fire had grown so intense that there was no way out through any other part of the house. I knew that it was only a matter of time before the flames would reach me, so my only option was to jump out the window and hope for the best.
I had just about thrown myself off the ledge when something caught onto my feet and pulled me back in! It turned out that there were vines growing up from below which shielded me from any harm coming through the open windows. What seemed like a disaster at first became an opportunity as I took advantage of this fortuitous turn by climbing down with ease.
This is where Aqua Affinity comes into play: it protects you against suffocation damage while also allowing you to breathe underwater (with or without respiration). With these two enchantments combined, your chances of survival in bad situations are much higher.
The next thing I did was head out for the nearest lava pool and jump right in! The water around me instantly cooled down as if there were ice cubes inside, but my breath wasn’t getting any more difficult even though I knew that fire should have been burning up through the cracks on the floor by now. It turns out this enchantment works with both water and molten rock alike just another great perk.
I’ve since put together a full list of all the benefits that come with aqua affinity:
You can breathe underwater without requiring any items.
Even if you don’t have respiration, it won’t affect your breathing in water.
Protection against suffocation damage while submerged in liquid (possibly lava) or otherwise drowning is a huge plus.
In order to activate Aqua Affinity, simply enchant an armor piece on both sides simultaneously and wear them together. This will cause the enchantment to last forever — so there’s no need for refreshments!
This was such a great experience; I’m glad my research helped me discover this useful new enchantment! It’ll be more than worth adding this one to my arsenal of skills next time I go exploring below the waves.
Where can you find aqua affinity?
It can be found by exploring the depths of water. What items does aqua affinity work with? Aqua Affinity will not work when interacting with lava, but it is completely safe to use underwater! How useful is aqua affinity? It’s very useful because you don’t need any other buffs or enchantments to breathe underwater – just level up your armor enchantment and go explore without worrying about running out of breath.
Will Aqua Affinity protect me from drowning damage while submerged in an ocean or lake (or even a pool)? Yes, since this enchantment only needs protection against suffocation as long as you’re submerged under liquid that blocks oxygen flow. This includes liquids such as water, sand, lava, and sludge. If there is no liquid, the suffocation protection from Aqua Affinity will not function.
What are some of the best items that aqua affinity works with?
Armor: Full set (or more) armor enchanted with Aqua Affinity offers complete underwater breathing and also provides an oxygen bar underwater so you can see how long your breath lasts! This enchantment is especially useful if exploring ocean depths below sea level where the water begins to fill up space on both sides of horizontal tunnel exits due to a bug in Minecraft’s code.
Weapons: The Trident item has Aqua Affinity which means it does increase damage while submerged underwater. It should be noted that this includes oceans as well as any other source of deep water just like lakes or pools – but only if the water is deep enough that you can’t see any of the surfaces from where you’re standing.
Other Items: The Aqua Affinity enchantment is found on Stone, Water, and Lava Buckets which are all useful when it comes to filling up lakes or pools with an infinite amount of freshwater to swim in. It should also be noted that this enchantment does not work underwater so a player will need something else for breathing such as respiration if diving into ocean depths below sea level!
