I’m not an online aggregator, but I think that the term “online aggregator” might just be the first of many that I will be reading about in the future. I have always been intrigued by the idea of aggregators, but have never fully understood the term.
It’s pretty simple really. Like most terms in the internet space, there is a broad spectrum of opinion about exactly what an aggregator is. Some people think that is just a group of software developers working together to provide a service. Others think that an aggregator is a company that puts up a website and collects web traffic (and other data) for a fee. Still others think that it is an online service that allows people to access information about other people.
The concept is simple. An aggregator is simply a website that allows people to “browse” for other people’s information. A website like Yelp does this. Google has a search engine that does the same thing.
When I visited Yelp, I was surprised at the number of listings for home repairs. At first I assumed that the site was just a scammer’s site, but it turns out that it is the home repair section of Yelp for people to find out what’s going on in their neighborhoods. There are also sections where you can post reviews of what’s going on in your neighborhood.
The reason for this is that a lot of people use Yelp.com to review their own home repair experiences. Although it is one of the most popular websites on the internet, it is also one of the least used sites for this purpose. As the use of the site grows, more and more people get the urge to review other peoples home repairs.
It is easy to get sucked into building an online reputation for yourself. As the popularity of Yelp grows, the number of reviews and posts that pop up will go up, and people may begin to believe that they can get a little extra cash by posting reviews. However, that is not the case. If you are a professional who wants to make a name for yourself, you will have to spend time and money to make a name for yourself.
This is not a new idea. My parents have a website that they have hosted for years, and many of their reviews are of their own home repairs. The problem is that there are also a lot of other people who want to post reviews of their own home repairs, so the website gets a lot of traffic. It is easy for people to say that their home is in shambles or they need to have a $20,000 repair, or whatever.
It is true that it doesn’t take much time and money to post a review on your own website. It only takes a few seconds, and no matter how much you spend on SEO, or how good your content is, there is always a chance that you can get a review of your own with a single click. However, it is also true that it can be hard to stand out online.
One of the biggest problems with online reviews is that they’re not really reviews at all. They’re just like any other review: The website gives a quick glance at the situation and provides a quick and dirty summary of what happened, even if it’s just “my roof leaked in the shower.” The problem with this is that it’s easy to make the review sound like it’s more than it is.
