In the year 500, the world was in its most peaceful period in recorded time. The Romans defeated the Persians and then conquered the entire world.
Yeah, that’s right. The world was actually quite peaceful in 500 BC. That’s when the “war” that some people have called “the long war” began. The war that ended in the year 480.
The problem is that people often confuse peace with tranquility or happiness. Of course, a couple thousand years ago people were not so peaceful. The Roman Army was led by an insane general named Marcus Licinius Crassus. He was a maniac. He was a lunatic. He had no regard for the rights of man. He thought all men were the same.
Crassus was not the only general to try and destroy the peace and tranquility that Rome enjoyed. His son, Caligula, was the one who succeeded in destroying the peace and tranquility. Caligula was the same way. He was a maniac. He was a lunatic. He was a tyrant. He had no regard for the rights of man. He was obsessed with killing his enemies and making himself the number one ruler.
If anything, it’s a nice reminder to us all that while the world is truly a horrible place, there are still some great people who can live a life of relative peace and tranquility.
Caligula was the only one of his generation who was willing to put the “great” in great. He made sure that the Romans had a huge amount of power that the rest of the world couldn’t touch. He got them to build a huge army, and then he told them to start killing each other to make the enemy think they would be able to hurt them. He made sure that the world would never have peace.
500 years before Caligula? That’s a long time. No, that’s a very short time. To give you a better perspective on what 500 years is like, you can look at how quickly our world has changed.
500 years ago, you had basically the same technology as today. You had a very small population, and no one had a very big army.
Yeah, 500 years is actually not a very short time. People were basically still farmers. You still had to live in tents and build houses. The technology was much different. It was a lot more complicated. We still have that technology though, and it wasn’t very different than it is now.
So, 500 years ago, we had a lot more complicated technology, it was a lot more complicated, and people were still farming. Thats basically the same thing no matter how you look at it. So, 500 years ago, I think the technology was still in the same place. But it was also not so different from the technology we have now.
